-Sister Stella Maris Hamann-
Earlier today, I attended the annual election of officers of the Knights of Columbus for Columbian year 2009-2010. As I entered the session hall, where the election is happening, the inside guards asked me to register my name on the attendance sheet and handed me over a latest copy of
Columbia, K of C's official magazine publication. At first, I even don't care to look at the content of the magazine because my desire to ease the heat prevails. I used it as a fan. hehehe.. I grabbed a chair where I can sit and somehow listen to the instructions that was given by the chairman of the committee, but i got bored. I want something to do. I want something that will uplift my then becoming indolent soul.. Out of boredness, I decided to scan the pages of Columbia magazine and I was directed to the "Catholic Man of the MOnth" page where St. John Mary Vianney is the one being featured. I read the article and was amazed by the life of the saint.

The article wrote: "...the truly great can be so humble, so insignificant, as to be almost unknown... and this is the case of St. Jean-Baptiste Marie Vianney...
St. John Vianney is an example of a man whose greatness came not from superior academic, financial or social achievements, but from his constant attention to the task set before him."
St. John Vianney was not excellent in academic matters. He has limited knowledge on academic pursuits though, but despite the difficulties He remained committed to his vocation, He didnt allow those to hinder the profession of his faith. He is a man of faith in action! A man exalted by the Lord because of his humbleness. A man with great submission and readiness to serve the Lord in the best possible way he can.
The Life of the saint made me realized that all of us are called by God to serve Him, however we have are own unique style to manifest such response to His call. As for me, I may not have the intellect as the others do, but by the inspiration given to me by the Lord through the Life of St. John Vianney, I will continue working for the Lord's glorification in the best possible way I can.
Naku, paano ba yan, St. John Vianney is the patron saint of priests. Mukhang isa na naman po yang "sign" sa yo ahh... Hehehe...
ReplyDeleteI really like St John VIanney a lot. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThe power of prayer talaga!
basag si satanas! hahaha
ReplyDeleteOo nga..
ReplyDeleteAnother point, they say that parish priest will have a hard time paving the way to sainthood.
Look at St John Vianney. He fought temptations through prayer and fasting. Ika nga, the mortification of self is the best way to fight evil, "because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin." (1 Peter 4:1b)
